Automatic & Semi-Automatic Espresso Machine
Cleaning Tips
- Remove portafilter, use stiff bristled brush to clean down inside of group, portafilter gasket, and diffuser screen.
- Insert blind filter into portafilter, add a teaspoon of espresso machine cleaner into blind filter, lock portafilter into group, push semi-automatic or continuous run button, allow machine to run for 30 seconds, let machine sit for 30 seconds, run again for 5 seconds, sit for 5 seconds (repeat 5 sec. Intervals 5 times).
- Turn group off, loosen portafilter, turn group back on wiggling portafilter back and forth (15 seconds), and remove portafilter.
- Turn group on using double shot button, allow to run a full cycle.
- Repeat above process on second, third, and fourth group if applicable.
- Remove drip tray, wipe out collection box with towels.
- Wipe down machine.
- Remove diffuser screens using a flat bladed screwdriver, remove brass brew block or water distributor, soak both in hot water and espresso machine cleaner mixture (approx. 15 minutes), then scrub both with scotch-brite after soaking.
- Use a paperclip or other small pointed item to clean the holes in the brew block or water distributor.
- Reinstall diffuser screens and brew block or water distributor.
- Soak both steam wands using steam wand cleaner – read instructions. (Always blow steam wands out before and after use).
- Replace rock salt in water softener or replace softener cartridge.
